LAKELAND - Melinda Ann Smith, 49, of Lakeland, passed away Feb. 12, 2012 due to complications of breast cancer.
Melinda was born in Edison, NJ. She was a veteran of the US Army serving as a combat medic from 1980 to 1983, and was stationed in Germany, and Ft. Hood, TX. She moved to Lakeland in 1995 from Missouri, and worked for Southside Cleaners from 1995 to 2000, and then as an accounts receivable clerk for Publix Supermarkets from 2000 to present.
Melinda is survived by her husband of 30 years Mark Smith, her daughter Misti Smith-Stewart, her parents Robert and Magda Raincsuk, her brother Bobby Raincsuk, her sister Magdalena Romano, and her three grandchildren, Braden, Zachariah and Makenzee.
Funeral services will be held at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, 5245 US 98 N, Lakeland on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 at 11:00am. Friends are invited to the visitation on Friday, Feb. 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
The family has requested that contributions be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
