LAKELAND - Dorothy "Dot" Virginia Sharpe, 88, passed away Jan. 9, 2012 from complications of Alzheimer's.
Mrs. Sharpe was born in Wilmington, DE on Aug. 15, 1923 to William and Della Silcox. She moved to Lakeland from Wilmington in 1982. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Family was a priority to Mrs. Sharpe, and she served as caregiver to many in the family. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed coordinated vacations and outings for the whole family.
Mrs. Sharpe was preceded in death by her husband, William Sharpe; granddaughter, Shannon Sharpe; and brother, Bill Silcox. She is survived by her son, Bob (Ruth) Sharpe; daughter, Nancy Sharpe; grandchildren, Amy Sharpe and her boyfriend, Darrin King, Jenny (Chris) Swartz and Bobby Sharpe; great granddaughter, Mae Swartz.
Funeral services will be conducted Thurs. at 4 pm at Gentry-Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd., Lakeland. Interment will be conducted in her hometown of Wilmington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 72 Lake Morton Dr. Lakeland, FL 33801.
