James DeLoss Robertson

JAMES DeLOSS ROBERTSON, 49

LAKELAND - James Robertson was born on a bright, summer's day on August 2, 1962, and due to Lymphoma slipped away from us into the light of the Lord on Nov. 16, 2011 surrounded by friends and immediate family at his home in Davenport, Florida.

James was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend born in Bend, Oregon then raised in Portland, Oregon, was a senior clown who traveled around the world with Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus for five years. He was married to his beautiful Bride Kathy for 21 years and has two adorable children, Kuranda Diane and Jacob DeLoss, all whom reside in beautiful, sunny Florida.

He has been employed at Disney's MGM/Hollywood Studios since 1998 who make up his second family. In August 2008, Jim accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and his mission in life since then has been to point his beloved family and friends to the saving grace of Jesus.

There will be two services held: one in Florida and one in Oregon. Calvary Baptist Church - 19 45 N. Florida Ave. Lakeland, FL 33805 - will host the Florida service on Friday, November 18th with the viewing at 5:00 PM and the service at 7:30 PM. Reception immediately following for all. The Oregon service will be held Monday, November 21st at the Rose City Cemetery Chapel - 5625 NE Fremont Street, Portland, OR 97213 - at 12:00 noon for the viewing and a 2:00 PM service. Reception place to be determined.

James J. Daly

 

 

JAMES J. DALY, 94

LAKELAND - James J. Daly died November 13, 2011, in Lakeland, FL of natural causes. He was 94 years old.

He was born in Sherburne, NY, on September 12, 1917. He came to Lakeland from Syracuse, NY, in 1981. He graduated from Sherburne High School in 1936 and from Ithaca College in 1940 where he played varsity football and baseball. He taught physical education and coached football at Cortland High School, Cortland, NY, in 1941.

Mr. Daly was a World War II veteran, entering service on November 13, 1941. At time of discharge, he held the rank of Lieutenant. After discharge from service, he attended the Wharton Graduate School of Finance and Commerce in Philadelphia, PA.

He was employed by Standard Brands, Inc., as Regional Sales Manager in Central and Northern New York for 35 years. He was a past president of the Food Industry Sales Executives of Western New York.

He was a member of American Legion Post 8, Winter Haven, FL, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Lakeland.

He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Daly, with whom he celebrated his 65th wedding anniversary on September 7, 2011; a son, William J. Daly, and a daughter-in-law, Marcia K. Daly, both of Jamestown, NY; a grandson, Mitchell Daly, and a granddaughter, Kaitlin Daly, both of Rochester, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Highland Fairways Golf Club, 3235 Highland Fair-ways Boulevard, Lakeland, FL 33810.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, November 21, at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, 820 Marcum Road, Lakeland. Family will greet friends one half hour before the service. A reception will be held at the Highland Fairways Club House at 4 p.m. on the 21st.

Interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

Ricardo Gonzalez "Richie" Morales II

LAKELAND - Mr. Ricardo "Richie" Gonzalez Morales, II, 17, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 following a bicycle/motor vehicle accident.

Richie was born February 13, 1994 in Lakeland, Fl. and attended Kathleen High School.
Survivors include his parents, Ric and Vicki Morales; brothers and sisters, Tabathia, Joshua, Tatiana, Destiny, Kira and Michael; and an aunt, Olga Rodriguez.

The visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Gentry-Morrison Duke-Steen Chapel (1833 S. Florida Ave.). Funeral services will be held on Friday at 3:00 PM at the funeral home chapel.

Frank C. Decker

 

 

FRANK C.DECKER, 87
Frank C. Decker Construction Co.

ORLANDO - Mr. Frank C. Decker, 87, died peacefully at home Monday, November 14, 2011 of complications from congestive heart failure.

He was born on November 1, 1924 in Cresskill, New Jersey and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II as a Dauntless Dive Bomber gunner/ bombardier in the Pacific theater.
Following the war, Mr. Decker attended Duke University and pitched for their baseball team before entering minor league baseball in California. Following three years in minor league baseball, he attended and graduated from Florida Southern College.

In 1952, he joined J.L. Ewell Engineering & Construction and began a career in construction. He started Frank C. Decker Construction Co. and throughout his career built large projects throughout Florida, the Southeast United States and Puerto Rico, including the James Wellman Cancer Treatment Center in Lakeland and his crown jewel, the original Joker Marchant Stadium ("the house that Frank built").

In 1972, he acquired the Lakeland Tigers baseball club, enjoying great success as a sports franchise owner and winning multiple Florida State League championships. Mr. Deck-er was inducted to the Florida State League Hall of Fame in November, 2010 along with good friend and current Detroit Tiger manager Jim Leyland.

Mr. Decker was past President of the Polk County Builders Association, Jaycees, Cleveland Heights Golf Club, a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and long time member of Lone Palm Country Club.

Mr. Decker is survived by his wife Joy, his son James E. Decker (Doreen); daughter Margaret M. Decker; daughter Norma K. Hanley (Tom); son Scott Brown (Deborah); daughter Kristi Peters (Mike); sister Norma Waters; brother John A. "Jack" Decker; and 14 grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 18 at 2 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lakeland, Florida; Monsignor John Caulfield officiating.

Kenneth W. Kincaid

    KENNETH W. KINCAID, 83

COLUMBUS, OHIO- Kenneth W. Kincaid, 83, of Columbus, Ohio (formerly of Springfield, Ohio and Winter Haven/Lakeland, Florida), was peacefully swept into the arms of his Savior on November 8, 2011 after a brief illness.

Born November 28, 1927 to Glendora and Homer Kincaid in New Carlisle, Ohio. A self-taught but consummate businessman, Kenneth was employed for 27 years and later owned Freking's in Springfield, Ohio. After moving to Columbus, Ohio, he served as a Contract Negotiator and Manager to private General Contractors.

Kenneth married Edith Hazlett on March 21, 1944 and enjoyed 65 years of wedded devotion along with raising their two children, Judy and Doug. Kenneth was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Springfield, Ohio before retiring to Florida and becoming a member of the Winter Haven and Lakeland Churches of the Nazarene. Returning to Columbus, Ohio, Kenneth attended Grace Brethren Polaris and enjoyed the Monday Men's Bible Study. Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife Edie (2010), his parents, brother Roger and sister Dora.

Left to celebrate his memory are his children, Judith (Brian) Shindle of Westerville, Ohio and Doug (Glenna) Kincaid of Blacklick, Ohio. Blessed by Papa's love are five grandchildren, Tiffany (Mike) Edwards of Columbus, Ohio, Chauncey (Scot) Cianci of Smyrna, Tennessee, Lindsay (Chris) Suster of Lakewood, Ohio, Ashley (David) Ings and Devon Kincaid of New York City; as well as four great-grandchildren (plus two soon to be born), Jacob Cherry, Brooklyn Cianci, Isaac and Grace Edwards. Also remaining is sister, Donna Kocher of Oregon; along with numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at the Grace Brethren Administration Center Chapel at 6675 Worthington-Galena Road in Worthington, Ohio at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2011 with the family receiving guests thirty minutes prior. Pastor Jim Custer officiating with Pastor Tim Waggoner assisting. Private inurnment to follow later.

Ken's family will always remember his love of the Lord and God's Word, putting his own needs last and others' first, his faithful caring for his beloved family and the deep commitment of love for his wife, Edie, whom he yearned to see again in heaven with his Savior - home at last.

TOM MOTTRAM, 64
Pharmacist

LAKELAND - Tom Mottram, 64, passed away due to complications from cancer on Saturday November 12, 2011.

He was born July 14, 1947 in Glens Falls, New York and moved to Lakeland in 1970 after graduating from the College of Pharmacy at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Mot-tram worked as a pharmacist in the Lakeland area for over 40 years. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church and enjoyed playing golf and watching sports.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years Susan, son Loren, daughter Amber, brothers Stephen, Kevin, Chris and sister Gloria Lawton.

A visitation will be conducted Wednesday November 16th from 6 - 8 pm at Gentry Morrison Funeral home, Dukes-Steen Chapel, 1833 South Florida Avenue in Lakeland. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday November 17th at 1pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 210 West Lemon Street, Lakeland. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
