Lakeland - David B. Ellington, 28, passed away October 16, 2011.
David was born in Bartow, Florida on October 10, 1983 and remained a resident of the Polk County area. He was a musician with the ability to play the guitar, drums and keyboard. Even in death David has been able to help others. He and his family made the choice to donate his organs to help save and prolong others lives. Multiple families have benefited from David's gift of donation.
David is survived by his son, Charles David Ellington; mother and step-father, Jean and Eddie Williams; father, Steve Ellington; sister, Amy Mason and her husband Robert; grandmother, Merle Messer; grandparents, David and Evelyn Ellington; uncles, Kevin and Jeffrey Messer; cousins, Jennifer, Jeffrey Jr. and Tia Messer; and nieces, Isabella and Autumn Mason.
Visitation will be Saturday (Oct. 22, 2011) from 10-11 a.m. at Gentry-Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Road, Lakeland, FL. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park, Lakeland.
David will be sadly missed by family and friends. "Our music has died."

I love you brother. More than words can ever say. You were my best friend and life will never be the same. I am at a loss for words, but I know your memory will live on forever in the hearts of so many people and I will forever remember your beautiful laugh and smile. To the family of Dave: My heart goes out to you all!! To lose someone so great, fun and talented is heartbreaking. He will remain in the heart and soul of many! May God and my prayers forever be with u during this time and throughout the future. To Davey McGravey: I will miss u man!!! You were a character like no other! I'm glad and proud to say I was able to know you and share some fun times with u! Your physical self is gone, but the spiritual Dave will live on in the hearts of many!!! R.I.P Dave! Good-bye for now Davey McGravey. You will be sadly missed.Our hearts and prayers are with our Messer family and we're so sad we can't be there with you! Uncle Jeff says he remembers the first time Dave said he loved him.He was about 12 and he looked in Uncle Jeff's eyes and said "I love you" and Jeff said he could see in Dave's eyes that he meant it! Love and Miss everyone!

I pray in time the emptiness u all must feel
will be gone...I will always remember seeing David playing and walking with his precious Charlie..May God give you peace and put his arms of comfort on the family...we didnt know David well but he must have been an amazing person....prayers continue for his family. May God Bless all of you...
