DARLENE HAYES, 63
Registered Nurse
LAKELAND - Darlene E. Hayes, 63, passed away Oct. 21, 2011 from
complications of a blood disorder.
Ms. Hayes was born in Washington D.C. on May 17, 1948. She came to the
Lakeland area in 1971 from D.C. She worked as a registered nurse, Rape
Crisis Counselor and volunteered for Good Shepherd Hospice. She loved
spending time with her family and enjoyed reading, camping and the ocean. She was a member of Shepherd's Community United Methodist Church.
Ms. Hayes was preceded in death by her father, Jack M. Hayes; daughter, Sandy Dyess; brother, Bruce Hayes and niece, Jamie. She is survived by her
daughter, Heather (Curtis) Schaefer; mother, Doris Hayes; sisters, Debbie (M.C.)Coleman, Diane (Steven) Marjanovic, Linda Hillary and Jan Wade; grandchildren, Sydney, Katie and Jenna Schaefer; nieces, Gina, Mandy and Brandy; nephews, Clay, Rusty and Nikolas.
Visitation will be Mon. (Oct. 24, 2011) from 6-8 p.m. at Gentry-Morrison
Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd., Lakeland. Funeral services will be
conducted Tues. at 11 a.m. at Shepherd's Community United Methodist
Church, 2165 Shepherd Rd., Lakeland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, Attn: Honor & Memorial Gifts, PO Box 1245, Albert Lea, MN, 56007-9976.
