LAKELAND - Barbara Elizabeth "Bettye" Vavra, 84, a lifelong resident of Lakeland, passed away Friday, August 26 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Barbara retired in 2005 after working many years as a bookkeeper for Beneficial Financial, Automotive Warehouse, and CMB. Her hobbies were travel, gardening, and working in her beautifully kept yard.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Daniel in 1996, and is survived by her son Daniel Jr. and his wife Martha, 3 grandchildren, Amy Gamester (Gregg), Daniel, Marybeth Soderstrom (Shayne), 2 great grandchildren, Mackensie and Claire Vavra, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, Aug. 30 from 10:00am to 12:00 noon at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, 5245 US 98 N, Lakeland. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 2:00 pm at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Hope Hospice House.
