Tibursia "Terry" Wyatt

TIBURSIA "TERRY" WYATT, 76

LAKELAND - Mrs. Tibursia "Terry" Wyatt passed away due to heart failure on Tuesday, July 26, 2011.

Terry was born on April 14, 1935 to Salvador and Carmen Negrete in Malakoff, TX.

She is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Charlie Willis, 3 brothers and a sister, Mary Sawyer. Terry is survived by her husband of 22 years, James Wyatt; four daughters, Patrice Robbins Gibson (Jerry), Denise Robbins Patryas (Ron), Mary Robbins Willis and Anita Robbins Hamric (Buddy); four sisters, Juanita Eiker, Carmen Bell, Sara Hiltzman and Lupe Herrera; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2011 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Northside Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 1st at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Socrum Cemetery.

Donald Eugene Cheney

DONALD EUGENE CHENEY, 87

LAKELAND - Donald Cheney passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011 due to complications of Alzheimer's.

Survived by wife, Millie and 4 sons, Donald Jr., Shayne, Hayden and Fenton. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

LAKELAND - Mrs. Blanche Somach, age 85, passed away Saturday July 23, 2011 at her residence of heart failure.

She was born in Mamaroneck, NY, lived in DeWitt, NY and moved to Lakeland, FL in 1996. She was a talented seamstress who enjoyed working at The Mr. Shop, Wells & Coverly and other fine clothing establishments. She also loved working with the local theatre and Jamesville-DeWitt School productions and the Roaring Twenties.

She was preceded in death by her husband Sheldon Somach, son Kent Somach, sisters Laura Gil, Mary Simonelli and brother Joe Vernile. Mrs. Somach is survived by her three children, Brian Somach and wife Mary Ann of Cherry Hill, NJ, Alan Somach of Lakeland, FL, Ann Murray and husband Scott of St. Croix, USVI; grandchildren, Nicholas Somach, Samantha Somach and Taylor Somach; great-grandchild Alyssa Som-ach, as well as brothers, Alfred Vernile, Emelio Vernile, Thomas Vernile and a host of relatives and friends.

A memorial service for all to honor her life will be held on Thursday, July 28th at 3:00pm at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Northside Chapel. Graveside services will be held Friday, July 29th at 1:00pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.

Mrs. Somach touched many peoples' lives with her kind heart and warm generosity. She was a wonderful mother to her children and a sincere friend to all her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Condolences may be sent via:

Leroy "Cliff" Parker, Jr.

LEROY "CLIFF" PARKER, JR., 99

LAKELAND - Leroy Parker Jr., 99, died July 26, 2011 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center due to natural causes.

He was born in Richmond, VA on March 29, 1912. Leroy was a decorated Army Air Force veteran and served in WWII. In 1940 he married the love of his life, Gertrude, with whom he was happily married for over 70 years.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Gertrude Parker; sons, Leroy Parker, III and Duane Parker; sister, Loena Agee as well as grandchildren Leann, An-drew, Melanie and Kenneth.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Gentry-Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd., Lakeland, FL. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Gentry-Morrison.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Crystal Lake United Methodist Church, Lakeland, FL.

LAKELAND - Selena I. Howell, 39, a lifelong resident of Lakeland, passed away July 22, 2011 due to Diabetes. She was born in Lakeland, attended college in Tampa, and worked as a real estate agent. She worked for several insurance agents and appraisers.
Selena was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Richard Hartman, her paternal grandparents George and Irene Williams, an aunt, Joann Phelps, and an uncle J.R. Woodward. Selena is survived by her mother Shelia Smith, her father Raymond Smith and his wife Jennifer, a son Brett Howell, 2 daughters Jolene and Claudia Howell, 2 brothers Raymond D. Smith and Mark Blackmon, a sister Lisa Blackmon, her maternal grandmother Lila "Granny" Brown, and her other maternal grandmother Charla Hartman; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 27 at 11:00 am at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, 5245 US 98 N, with burial to follow at Oak Hill Burial Park. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Gentry-Morrison, Northside, on Tuesday, July 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
The family has requested that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association .

Samuel Pincus

SAMUEL PINCUS, 91

LAKELAND - Samuel Pincus, 91, passed away peacefully of natural causes on 07/20/2011, with his family at his bedside at Lakeland Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Sam was preceded in death by his wife Eva Levitt Pincus of 59 years. Sam was a devoted husband and father.
Sam loved all Synagogues and loved being Jewish. His tireless work for United Synagogue brought much joy to him. Sam and Eva moved to Lakeland in 1946 and were among the founding members of Temple Emanuel. Sam was past president of Temple Emanuel for a total of 12 years and Man of the Year twice. Sam never retired, he loved selling shopping bags to his customers and his customers loved him, as he had many returned customers. Over the years he was well known by many people in the community as the owner of The Star Department Store. He also worked for Stetson Hat Company. His favorite restaurant was Fat Jack's as he always ordered the same thing: toasted bagel, tomato and a slice of onion.
Whenever he said goodbye he always said "you know where I'll be". We all know where Sam is.
Sam is survived by his sister, Harriet Glazier; three sons, Elliot, Steven and Stanley and his wife Ann; brother-in-law, Morris Levitt and his wife Rhoda; and a sister-in- law, Zena Ledin; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at Temple Emanuel at 11:00 am Sunday. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Temple Emanuel, Temple Rodeph Shalom or United Synagogue.

INA B. MARTIN, 79

LAKELAND - Ina B. Martin died 7/16/2011 from kidney failure.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8pm at Gentry Morrison Southside. Services on  Wednesday at 1pm in the funeral home chapel.
