Tyler Ross Hill

 

TYLER ROSS HILL, 19

MULBERRY - Tyler Ross Hill, 19, passed away, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident, Tuesday, June 21, 2011 in Lake County.

He was born September 3, 1991 in Lakeland, FL. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School and graduated from Mulberry High school, class of 2010. Tyler was employed by Raney Components, where he was in charge of shipping and receiving. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Tyler enjoyed life, especially his Honda, his music, the beach and most of all his family.

Tyler is survived by his parents: David and Kelly Hill, brother: Wes Hill and maternal grandmother: Martha Ward.

Tyler's family will receive friends Friday, June 24, 2011, from 6-8pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Road in Lakeland.

Nathaniel F. West

 

NATHANIEL F. WEST, 75
Electrical Superintendent

LAKELAND - Mr. Nathaniel F. West passed away Monday June 20, 2011 due to respiratory failure.

He was born in Mayo, FL and moved to Lakeland in 1945. N.F. worked for Ken Robinson Electric for over 20 years as a superintendent. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. LU#915 where he served in many capacities and served on several boards. N.F. was instrumental in developing the East Lakeland Dixie Youth Baseball League. He was also an active PTA member & Past President.

Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Myra West, sons, Rick (Patti) West, Jim (Debra) West, Chris West, brothers, Woodrow West, George West, sisters, Marie Witmer, Flora Mae West, Deborah Morales, grandchildren, James, Natalie, Matthew, Ricky and many nieces & nephews.

Contributions may be made to your local S.P.C.A. or Humane Society.

Arrangements by, Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel. Friends and colleagues will be warmly received at the planned memorial service which will be published at a later date.

Joan Mable Burton Tubb

 

JOAN MABLE BURTON TUBB, 92

LAKELAND - Joan Mable Burton Tubb of Lakeland, Florida, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on June 20, 2011, at the age of 92 of natural causes.

Joan was born in Southampton, England, on May 5, 1919. She met Joseph Owen Tubb who also was born in Southampton, England.

They were married in New York June 1941 and lived in New York City raising three sons until moving to North Miami Beach, Florida, in 1959. Joan retired from Burdines Department Store, in the Customer Service Department. Joan and Joseph moved to Lakeland in 1981. Joan loved making friends wherever she lived and was a diligent letter writer who never missed sending a birthday and Christmas card to her many friends, some of whom dated back to when she was a 10-year old Girl Scout with them.

Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband on July 14, 1989. Joan is survived by her sons John (Joyce) Tubb, Robert (Sandy) Tubb, and Dennis (Rebecca) Tubb, all of Lakeland and by nine grandchildren: John Richard (Amy) Tubb of Alabama, Jenifer Tubb (Tim) Harcourt of Georgia, Robert O. Tubb of New York, Joseph M. Tubb, Laura, Madison, and Dennis Tubb of Lakeland, Florida and by three great grandchildren: John Evan and Abigail Tubb of Alabama and Presten Tubb of New York.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, 1:00 - 2:00pm at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm. Interment will be at Oak Hill Burial Park.

Larry Douglas Perry

LARRY DOUGLAS PERRY, 65
Polk County

HIGHLAND CITY - Mr. Larry Douglas Perry, 65, passed away, as a result of cancer, Sunday, June 19, 2011.

Born September 5, 1946 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Mr. Perry moved to Florida in the early 1950s. He was employed by Polk County where he worked in road maintenance. He was a member of Highland City Freewill Baptist Church in Highland City.

Mr. Perry is survived by his wife of forty five years: Mary Ann Perry, son: Jimmy (Terri) Joiner, daughters: Teresa (Eugene) Carroll and Tammy (Harvey) Hester, brother: Travis (Sandra) Perry, sisters: Brenda (Billy) Redding and Glenda (Newton) Hampton, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 22, 2011 from 6-8pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Road in Lakeland. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 10 am at Highland City Freewill Baptist Church, 5546 4th Street in Highland City. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. Perry's family requests that memorial donations be made in his honor to Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.

J.R. BURCHFIELD, 83

LAKELAND - Mr. J.R. Burchfield, 83, passed away, as a result of heart
failure, Thursday, June 16, 2011.

Born June 13, 1928 in Norma, Tennessee. Mr. Burchfield moved to Lakeland in 1958. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Burchfield worked in the construction industry.

He is survived by son; Don (Terri) Burchfield, daughters; Terri (Larry) Dempsey, Deborah Butler and Tina (Jeff) Wright, sisters; Bernice Burchfield and Jean McCann, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

LAKELAND - Shannon Edward Wiegert, 39, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2011.  Shannon was born on Sept. 22, 1971 to John and Susan Wiegert in Winter Haven, FL.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gabriella. Shannon is survived by his wife, Heather Wiegert; daughter, Ashley Wiegert; parents, John and Susan Wiegert; grandparents, Robert Wiegert, Patsy Springer Abel and her husband; brother, Rob (Kimbra) Wiegert; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Northside Chapel.

WINTER HAVEN - Elvira Becker, 91, died of heart failure June 14, 2011.
Survived by son Joseph, granddaughter Holly Ann and her husband Jeff, and great grandson Hunter Joseph.
There will be a small graveside service at the VA National Cemetery.

BARTOW - Dolly Hopewell, 77,  Bartow, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011 due to respiratory failure.

Mrs. Hopewell was born on January 7, 1934 in Williamston, North Carolina.  In addition to being a homemaker she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Dolly was also a member of Highland Park Church of the Nazarene and a member of the church choir.

Mrs. Hopewell is survived by her husband:  Sam V.,  sons:  Sam W. and David,  daughter:  Laurie Crews,  sister:  Della Woolard along with 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Good Shepherd Hospice at 105 Arneson Ave.  Auburndale, FL  33823.
