LAKELAND - Douglas R. Alderman, 68, of Lakeland, passed away June 28, 2011 of heart failure.
Douglas was born in Auburndale, and was a lifelong resident of the area.
He retired in 2006 after 43 years working as a self employed structural engineer for several firms throughout North America and Canada. He was an avid sports car enthusiast, especially the Corvette, traveling to car shows with Barbara. They also enjoyed traveling in the RV, seeing almost every national park in the country.
He is survived by his wife Barbara; his 2 sons, Ray of Knoxville, TN, and Thom of Riverview, FL; a daughter, Angie Mudge and her husband Todd of Lakeland; 2 sisters, Ethel Davis of Bartow and Linda Evans of Lakeland; and his 5 grandchildren, Andrew, Justin, Celine, Seattle and Erin.
Services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 6:00 PM at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, 5245 US 98 Northside. Friends may attend beginning at 5:00 pm. Family requested memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
