LAKELAND - Mr. Robert A. "Bob" Edwards, 57, passed away Monday May 16, 2011 from cancer.

He was born in Kennewick, WA. Bob worked for Protection One Security Systems. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service as an electronic systems manager.

Bob is survived by his wife, Karen Locks Edwards, sons, Christopher Paul (Elise) Edwards of Jacksonville, FL, James Robert Edwards of Gainesville, FL, daughters, Karen Marie (Mark) Watson of Riverview, FL, Amy Lynne Edwards of Ft. Myers, FL, brother, Russ (Becky) Edwards of Auburndale, FL, sisters, Kathy (Ken) Rath of Rockford, MI, Margaret Montano of Germany, 4 grandchildren, Alex, Kyle, Jonathan and Jacob.

Visitation will be Wed. 6-8pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, 11:00am at Legacy Christian Church, 901 Beacon Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Legacy Christian Church or Good Shepherd Hospice.

William Gammon

 WILLIAM ALFRED GAMMON, 85

LAKELAND - Mr. William A. Gammon passed away Friday May 13, 2011 due to complications from a stroke.
He was born in Natick, MA and moved to Lakeland from Dunedin, FL in 1962. William worked as an inspector of fruits and vegetables for the U.S.D.A. for 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of American Legion Post 4 in Lakeland.
He is survived by wife, Marilyn Joyce Gammon; son, David (Cindy) Gammon; daughter, Deborah (Richard) Elliott; step sons, John and Stephen Schaen; step daughters, Margaret (Jim) Nichols, Cindy (Curtiss) Kinard; 3 grandchildren, Danielle Fleming, Wendy Moyle, Michael Elliott; 6 step grandchildren, James Nichols, Andy Nichols, Sarah Nichols, Dan Nichols, Avery Kinard, Sam Kinard; 3 great grandchildren, Ashlynn Fleming, William Aiden Fleming and Lydia Fleming.

Mickey LaRue Renfro

LAKELAND - Mr. Mickey LaRue Renfro, 72, passed away Friday, May 13, 2011 from complications of Lewy Body Dementia.
Mickey was born June 13, 1938 in Avon Park FL, to Walta Cherry and Fred Renfro Sr. At age 21 he moved to Lakeland after serving in the US Army. He retired from Publix after 36 years. Mickey enjoyed fishing, traveling, and hunting. He now joins his former hunting buddies in Heaven. After his retirement, he purchased a mountain home in Franklin, NC, where he played golf almost daily up until his illness a few years ago. Mickey was a charter member of Crestview Baptist Church.
Mickey was preceded in death by his father Fred Renfro Sr., a daughter Dana Lynn and a grandson Timothy Long II. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Emmie Renfro, his mother Walta Cherry, both of Lakeland, his sons Eric of Lakeland and Lance and wife Tina of Auburndale, his daughter Amy Long and husband Tim of Lakeland; his 3 grandchildren that he adored, Madelyn and Holden Long and Wyatt Renfro.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 10:30 am at the Crestview Baptist Church with burial to follow in Serenity Gardens. Friends are invited to call at Gentry-Morrison, Northside, on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Donations to the Crestview Baptist Church Building Fund or The Fund at Palliative Care, c/o Lakeland Regional Medical Center would be appreciated.

Mary P. Tyler

MARY P. TYLER, 60 Teacher LAKELAND - Mary P. Tyler, 60, passed away on Tuesday May 3, 2011 due to complications from leukemia. She moved to Lakeland from Buffalo, NY 20 years ago. Mary retired as a teacher with the Polk County School Board after 20 years of service and teaching at Inwood Elementary in Winter Haven, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Tyler. Survivors include sons, Jason and Chris Tyler both of Lakeland, daughter, Jennifer Hsu of Buffalo, NY, brother, Patrick McCartan, sister, Janet McCartan, both of Rising Sun, MD, 5 grandchildren, Kaitlin, Kara, Brendan, Keegan & Camden.   Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Northside Chapel, 5245 US Hwy 98 North.

William Marcus

WILLIAM  MARCUS, 99

LAKELAND - William Marcus of Lakeland, Florida died May 2, 2011 at the age of 99 in Lakeland due to natural causes.

Mr. Marcus lived in his birthplace, New York City, NY until 35 years ago when he moved to Lakeland. Mr. Marcus was the author of the book, "Elements of Radio" which was in print for 30 years and inspired a whole generation of radio enthusiasts and scientists. He was also a Principal and educator in the New York City public school system for 30 years and a supporter of Temple Emanuel in Lakeland. "Mr. Bill" will be remembered fondly by all those whose lives he touched.

Mr. Marcus was preceded in death by his son, Paul and his beloved wife Marion Bader Marcus. He is survived by his son, Dr. Robert Marcus. He is also survived by a grandson, David Marcus and two great granddaughters, Zoey and Kaya Marcus.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 5 at 9:00 a.m. at the Temple Emanuel Cemetery in Lakeland, Florida.

John Martin Ewing

LAKELAND - Mr. John Martin Ewing, 80, passed away May 2, 2011 from complications of Parkinson's.

Mr. Ewing was born in Stephens City, VA on May 1, 1931 to the late Earl and Anna Ewing. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He moved to Lakeland from Winchester, VA in 1971. He was an accountant for Crown, Cork & Seal, and later retired from BeeGee Shrimp. Mr. Ewing was a member of Highland Park Church of the Nazarene.

Mr. Ewing was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Ewing; brother, James Earl Ewing; and sister, Clara Cook. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Ewing of Lakeland and Beth (Dave) Row of Lakeland; brothers, Lewis (Mary Jane) Ewing of Winchester, VA and Bill (Jeanette) Ewing of Stephens City, VA; sisters, Catherine Lovett of Winchester, VA and Nancy Weller of Raleigh, NC; grandson, Cameron Row of Lakeland.

A memorial service will be conducted Sat. at 10 am at Gentry-Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd., Lakeland. Interment at Florida National Cemetery will be conducted privately. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Palliative Care Unit of LRMC, 1324 Lakeland Hills Blvd. Lakeland, FL 33805.
