LAKELAND - Irvin Vester Watson, 72, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 due to complications of Alzheimer's disease.

Mr. Watson was born October 14, 1936 to Ivy and Mamie Watson. He moved here 30 years ago from Pensacola, FL. He was a member of Kathleen Baptist Church. He was a veteran and retired from the US Navy. He retired from the Polk County Health Department after 24 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Watson; daughters, Catherine Watson Sheats and Elizabeth Watson Borland; brother, David Watson; sisters, Betty Simms, Barbara Kelly, Iris Dawson, Nell White and Mae Watkins; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June, 21, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Northside Chapel. Funeral service will be Monday, June 22, 2009 at 10:00 am at Kathleen Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, FL 33823.
