ADELA SABATIER GARCIA, 89
LAKELAND - Adela Sabatier Garcia, 89 of Lakeland, died Friday, June 12, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center due to heart failure.
Adela was born October 11, 1919 in Cuba to Ramon and Maria (Castro) Sabatier and moved to New York City in 1954. A gifted seamstress and business woman, she owned and operated "Maggie's Bridal Gowns" and "Sabatier Custom Shirt Makers" in NYC. Among her many clients, Adela created shirts for Liberace and Roy Rogers. In 2004, Adela moved to Lakeland where she attended Resurrection Catholic Church.
Adela was united in marriage on June 5, 1948 to her husband, Jesus Garcia who resides in Lakeland. Adela is also survived by her daughter, Maggie (Paul) Sabatier-Smith; her grandson, Alex (Erika) Barcia and her great grandchildren Adam Jay and Samantha Grace Barcia - all of Lakeland. One of 14 brothers and sisters, she is also survived by two brothers in Miami and a sister in Cuba.
Memorial services open to family and friends, will be held 11am Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel. Inurnment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lakeland.
