JAMES ERICKSON CASTIGLIONE, Sr., 74
Wholesale Jeweler
BARTOW - Mr. James Castiglione, Sr., 74, passed away as a result of heart failure 3/25/2009, at his home.
Born 11/5/1934 in Trenton, NJ, Mr. Castiglione moved to Bartow in 2004 from Polk City. He was a self-employed wholesale jeweler. He was a Methodist.
Mr. Castiglione was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Powell. He is survived by his sons; James Castiglione, Jr. and Peter Castiglione, his daughters: Carol Castiglione and Cindy Patsourakis, his brother: Henry Castiglione, his sister: Betty Ann Castiglione, 21 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be conducted Sunday, 3/29/2009, from 2-3pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Road in Lakeland. A funeral service will follow at 3pm with John Henderson officiating.

RENATA PERRY, 63
Renata Perry, 63 of Lakeland, died March 25, 2009 at Palm Terrace Hospice due to cancer.
She was born July 5, 1945 in Asmara, Eritrea to Abdon Sennen and Brahane (Meslal) Rossi and moved to Lakeland in 2007 coming from Italy. Renata was employed as a manager with Sonny’s BBQ in Lakeland for over 25 years.
She was united in marriage to her husband, Jack on July 26, 1968 in Naples, Italy. Jack resides in Lakeland. Renata is also survived by her sons, Christian Perry of Jacksonville and Michael Perry of Lakeland; her daugher, Patricia Perry of Avon Park; a brother, Angelo Rossi of Licola, Italy; two sisters, Maria Theresa Pollici of Naples, Italy and Coronide Rossi of Milano, Italy and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held privately.

EDSEL H. SURRENCY, 81

LAKELAND - Edsel H. Surrency, 81, died March 14, 2009, of heart failure.
Mr. Surrency, a lifelong resident of Lakeland, worked for the U.S. Post Office as a mail carrier, and was a charter member of the Bethany Christian Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Eva, and two sons: Ed Surrency, Jr., and Jonathan Surrency. Surviving him are his daughter, Frances A. Perry; daughter-in-law, Michelle Surrency; sister, Lucille Busbee; sister-in-law, Marge Surrency, and grandchildren, Katie Surrency, Evan Surrency, and David (Erin) Perry.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 29, 2:00 p.m., at the Bethany Christian Church. Memorial donations may be made to Bethany Christian Church or North Lakeland Presbyterian Church.

EMILY J. MYERS, 74
Registered Nurse
LAKELAND - Mrs. Emily June Myers, 74, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 in Lakeland due to complications from Alzheimer's disease.
Mrs. Myers was born April 3, 1934 in Blandburg, PA to Arthur and Edna Hollen. She moved to Lakeland in 1978 from Orlando, FL. Mrs. Myers was a registered nurse and licensed in five different states during her career in the healthcare industry.
Mrs. Myers is survived by her husband, Chapman H. Myers; son, Dean H. Myers of Lakeland; daughters, Susan L. Ellis of Lakeland and Judy L. Myers of San Diego, CA; brothers, Robert Hollen of Carlisle, PA and James Hollen of St. Petersburg, FL; and four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 9365 U.S. Hwy 19 North, Suite B, Pinellas Park, Fl 33782.
A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, March 26, 2009, from 6 to 8 PM at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home (Northside Chapel).

EDWARD T. "ED" CONDON, 75
LAKELAND - Edward "Ed" T. Condon, 75, passed away on March 22, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his family. Cause of death was pulmonary fibrosis.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Laurine Condon; his son Edward T. Condon, Jr. and wife Eliana; his son Bruce Condon and wife Kay; and his son Cliff Condon and partner Zjef van Bezouw. His is also survived by his sister Anna Mae Baldwin; his brother Redmond Condon and wife Cissy; and sister-in-law Pauline Condon, wife of deceased brother Walter Condon. He was loved dearly by his family including 29 nieces and nephews.
Ed was born and raised in Jamaica Plain, a neighborhood of Boston, MA, and graduated from Northeastern University. He served his country proudly in the Korean War. In 1964, he moved with his family to Marlboro, MA, where he worked as an electrical engineer at Raytheon for 35 years until his retirement. In 2001, he and his wife moved to Lakeland, Florida to enjoy their golden years.
He was a good Catholic who lived a Christian life guided by the commandments, "You shall love the Lord with your whole heart" and "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
There are no immediate plans for a memorial service but the family hopes that friends would remember Ed in their prayers.

MICHAEL SHEPHERD, 59
LAKELAND - Michael Shepherd, 59, died Friday, March 20, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Hospital due to heart failure.
Mike was born July 7, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Wilbert and Alberta (Lauger) Vail and moved to Lakeland in June of 1997. Mike was a United States Air Force Veteran and served during the Viet Nam War. He was also a volunteer Fireman / EMT and served as Captain for the Indianapolis Fire Dept. Mike was employed for the McDonalds Corp. for over 21 years and then went to work for the Walt Disney company of which he was currently employed.
He was united in marriage on August 26, 1972 on the Tachikawa Air Force Base, Japan to his wife, Marjorie who resides in Lakeland, Mike is also survived by his father, Wilbert Vail of Indianapolis; his daughter, Michelle Bartlett of Springtown, TX; two brothers, Thomas Vail of Indianapolis and Billy Vail of Greenfield, IN; his four grandchildren, Brianna & Angelica Bartlett and Brian & Brittany Mosbaugh and his faithful companion, Scruffy.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, from 1 - 2 pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Northside Chapel. Where a Celebration of Mikes's life will be held that day at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Ronald McDonald House.
