LAKELAND - Eva Clyde (Mock) Maddox of Lakeland died of heart failure on January 24, 2009. She was 79.
Eva was born to Pauline Newberry and Daniel Elijah Mock in Hilton, Georgia on January 1, 1930. Soon thereafter her family moved to Lakeland where she grew up. She attended public schools in Medulla and Mulberry. After graduating high school, she married Chesley B. Maddox, Jr. who was employed by V-C Chemical Corp. at Nichols. Four years later her husband joined the Army and soon became a commissioned officer. During her husband's 25 year Army career, they lived in 12 states and in Germany. They had three daughters, including twins. Eva was a Girl Scout leader for 17 years in positions ranging from Assistant Brownie Troop Leader to Chairperson of the District Girl Scout Council in N.J. Eva also held several other volunteer jobs and was selected Alternate Army Wife of the Year at Fort Monmouth, N.J. in 1971. Her husband retired from the Army as a Colonel in 1976, and they moved back to Lakeland to care for his ailing mother. She was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband and adult twin daughters, Brenda and Lynda. She is survived by her eldest daughter, Betty Maddox Monroe, four grandchildren and one great grandson.
Visitation will be Fri 6-8 p.m. at Gentry-Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd., Lakeland. Funeral services will be conducted Sat. at 11 a.m. at St. David's Episcopal Church, 145 E. Edgewood Dr., Lakeland, FL 33803 with interment to follow at Oak Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. David's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.

LAKELAND - Mr. Danny Hart passed away 1/23/2009 of heart failure.
Mr. Hart moved to Lakeland in 2006 from Paris, TN where he worked as a technician for Air Control of Paris, TN. He was a member of Central Point Baptist Church and a former member of the Rotary Club, both in Paris, TN.
Mr. Hart was preceded in death by his father Gordon Hart and his son Nicholas Bradford Hart. He is survived by his mother: Juanita Hart of Lakeland, FL, daughter: Danielle (Matthew) Doogan of Paris, TN, 3 sisters: Janice (Russell) Henderson of Moore Haven, FL, Pat (Billy) Johnson of Moncks Corner, S.C., and Barbara G. Flood of Lakeland, FL, and nieces and nephews: Aubrey and Miranda Flood, Darrell Henderson, Sherri Fleming, Sharyn Henderson, Gary Johnson and Kelli Veronee.
A memorial service will be held Thur. 1/29/2009 at 3pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Road, Lakeland, FL.

LAKELAND - Sue Ann Schoonover, 65 died January 22, 2009 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale due to cancer.
She was born May 8,1943 in Lansing, MI.
She was preceded in death by her late father, Bert Fowler, Sr. She is survived by her husband Donald Schoonover, daughters, Kristina Nicholson of Ml, Rhonda Stump of TX, and Melissa Davis of CA, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, mother Harriet Anne Fowler, sisters Winona Smith, Karen Sipperley, all of MI, and brother, Bert Fowler, Jr. of AZ, caregiver Donna (Sis) Burton of MI.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or the American Lung Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 26th, at 11:00 AM at Cornerstone Baptist Church.

LAKE ALFRED - Mr. Clarence A. Styes, 77, passed away at home on Thursday Jan. 22, 2009 due to cancer.
He was born in Tower, MI and moved to this area from Plant City in 1979. Mr. Styes was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Plant City for many years. He was a member of Southside Assembly of God in Lakeland. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict and was an active member of the RV MAPS Organization.
Mr. Styes was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Marion E. Styes and is survived by , son, Chuck Styes of Plant City, daughter, Andrea S. Lalka of Lake Alfred, FL, brothers, Jack Styes of Hartland, MI, Earl Styes of Kennesaw, GA, sister, Ruth Stuart of Orlando, FL, grandchildren, P. J. Lalka, Haley Lalks, Julie Keaton, Aimee Frier, Kristen Sutton, Nicole Nodal, Cara Styes, C. J. Styes and six great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday 6 - 8 pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Northside Chapel, 5245 US Hwy 98 N. Funeral services will be conducted Tue. 11:00 am at Southside Assembly of God in Lakeland. Interment will follow in Serenity Gardens in Lakeland. LAKELAND - Mrs. Odell Bader passed away Fri. Jan. 23rd due to natural causes.
She was born in Baxley, GA and moved to Lakeland in the 1930's where she has worked as a citrus grower for many years. Mrs. Bader was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Lakeland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Bader and is survived by son, Tom Bader of Lakeland, FL, daughters, Mell (Walt) Hron of Bartow, FL, Diane (Rick) Zalanka of Lakeland, grandchildren, Debi, Linda, Kathi, Terri, Cyndi, Tammie, Alexander and Adam, great-grandchildren, Ben, Nicholas, Jeremy and Brandon.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 1:00 - 2:00pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd with services to begin at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park.
