LAKELAND - Mrs. Mary Jeanne McLeod, 83, passed away Tuesday July 15, 2008 at Savannah Court in Lakeland due to heart failure.

She was born June 12, 1925 in Mulberry, Fl to William Jesse Martin & Mary Helen (Byrd) Martin. Mrs. McLeod was a lifelong resident of Polk County. She retired from the Polk County School system after more than 30 years of service, ending her career at the Kathleen Junior High School. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society in Lakeland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. McLeod; and a sister, Sara Ringdahl. Survivors include a son, Martin P. McLeod (Christina); daughter, Jeannine McLeod Duncan (Brad); 3 grandchildren, Tiffanie Cannonier, Zacharia Mc-Leod, and Sarah Duncan; 3 great grandchildren, Kaitlynn Smith, Isaiah Smith and Adonyss Cannonier; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday July 18, at 10:00 A.M. at the Gentry Morrison Northside Chapel.
