RENE' A. MOUTON, 74

LAKELAND - Mr. Rene' A. Mouton, 74, died Saturday, June 28 at Consulate Health Care at Socrum Loop due to heart failure.

Mr. Mouton was born in Plaqumine, LA and moved to Lakeland in 1969. He was employed by CF Industries and was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force, was an EAA member and also a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. He was a graduate of LSU and enjoyed woodworking and aircraft restoration. Above all else he was a loving husband and father.

Survivors include his wife, Delores Mouton, Lakeland; sons, Kenneth Mouton, of Dover, DE, Bryan Mouton, Auburn, GA; daughters, Karen (J. Michael) McCarthy, Donna Bell, Debra Walters, Brenda Sherman, all of Lakeland; brother, Michael Mouton, of Baton Rouge, LA; sisters, Jane Babin, of Port Allen, LA, Ann Dunlop, of Baton Rouge, LA and 9 grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at Resurrection Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment, Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery.

LAKELAND - Mrs. Maxine Catherine Sowell, 83, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008 at LRMC due to respiratory failure.

A sweet and gentle soul has left this world. Her greatest love was her family. Precious Mama, a rose whose petals have now fallen here, but you have bloomed again in heaven. I will miss you, but I know you have gone on to go fishing with Daddy and Stacy Cole. Good-bye Mama, I love you. John 3:16 For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

Maxine moved to Lakeland from Austin, Texas in 2001. She was a 65 year member of the Kathleen United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Coleman Henry Sowell; and a grandson, Stacy Cole Gillen. Her survivors include her daughter, Pat "Patsy" Gillen; a sister, Geraldine Randle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kathleen United Methodist Church.

The visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home (Northside Chapel). Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Kathleen United Methodist Church.

LAKELAND - Mrs. Bessie Giles Ellerbe, 87, passed away June 19, 2008 due to respiratory failure at Good Shepherd Hospice Forsyth House Center in Auburndale.

Bessie was born Aug. 24, 1920 in Fort Valley, GA. She moved to the Lakeland area with her family when she was a teenager and graduated from Winter Haven High School. She was married to the love of her life, Gene Ellerbe for 65 years. Together they raised a family of six children. She retired from Publix Supermarkets where she was employed for many years. Bessie was a member of Gapway Baptist Church.
Mrs. Ellerbe was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Julia Giles, 8 brothers and sisters and her husband Harley Eugene Ellerbe. She is survived by her six children: Merle (Ronald) Wolf and Judy (Arthur) Futch of Lakeland, Derell (Barbara) Ellerbe of Mechanicsville, VA, David (Cheryl) Ellerbe of Pensacola, Donald (Debbie) Ellerbe of Bluffton, SC, Douglas (Barbara) Ellerbe of Ocoee, brother: Virgil (Shirley) Giles of Leesburg, thirteen grandchildren: Eileen Carroll, Russell Futch, Alan Ellerbe, Marnie Ellerbe, Amanda Genter, Alicia Ellerbe, Jennifer Ellerbe-Tucker, Jason Ellerbe, Caitlyn Ellerbe, Arianna Ellerbe, Cody Ellerbe, Rachel Ellerbe and Amber Ellerbe. She also is survived by 9 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Gentry Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Road on Fri. 6/27 from 6 - 8pm. Services will be conducted on Sat. 6/28 at 10:00am.
