PLANT CITY -- Mr. Doyle Lavarde Sanders of Plant City died of complications of Alzheimer's disease Wednesday (Aug. 30, 2006) at Lakeland Hills Center. He was 76.

Born in Medulla on Dec. 27, 1929, he was a longtime resident of the area. He was a millright for Pedone Construction of Lakeland and Central Maintenance of Lithia. He was a member of Millwright's Union Local No. 1000 in Tampa. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Willow Oak Baptist Church.

Mr. Sanders is survived by his wife, Gwen Sanders; daughter, Janice Sanders, Lakeland; son, Larry L. Sanders, Plant City; brothers, Wayne, Lakeland, James "JB", St. Petersburg, Gary, Houston, Texas; sisters, Dorothy Batts, Lakeland, Jeanette Bigman, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Regions Foundation.

Jarrod Ryan "JR" Strickland, 19, of Lakeland, FL, died 8-28-06 in Lakeland, FL. Cause of death was injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mr. Strickland was born 9-5-1986 in Lakeland, FL. He was a student.

He was a member of First Assembly of God Faith. Mr. Strickland graduated from Winter Haven High School; was attending Polk Community College; currently employed by Crispers Restaurant. He was Winter Haven High School Letterman of Football, wrestling, swimming; blackbelt - Roe's Tai Kwon Do, member of Lakeland YMCA. A musician of the guitar, and Boys Scouts of America. Devoted son, grandson, nephew & cousin. He will be greatly missed by family & friends.

Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his Grandmother Karen Wurtz. Survivors include his mother, Dr. Holly Rae Strickland, Lakeland, FL; grandparents, Ray & Betty Wurtz, Lakeland, FL; aunts, Heidi Wurtz Wise, Lakeland, FL, Haili Wurtz Marotti, Labelle, FL, Dr. Heather Wurtz McDaniel, Winter Haven, FL, Hillary Wurtz Dykhuizen, Lakeland, FL, Debbie Wurtz Harrison, Lakeland, FL.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Ralph B. Wikke of Lakeland died of lung cancer Saturday (Aug. 26, 2006) at Palm Terrace Hospice House in Lakeland. He was 87.

Born in Kansas City, Kan., on Dec. 26, 1918, he came to Lakeland from Englewood in 1998. He was a retired sales executive in the advertising industry. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 76 and past commander of the VFW Post No. 1000, both of Independence, Mo. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Independence.

Mr. Wikke was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jewell Wikke. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie W. Haldeman, Lakeland; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at a later date in Independence, Mo.

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Charlotte M. "Charlie" Nolet of Lakeland died of lung failure Sunday (Aug. 27, 2006) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She was 80.

Born in Tell, Texas, on July 11, 1926, she came to Lakeland from Clovis, N.M., in 1986. She worked for the Eastern New Mexico Rehabilitative Services of New Mexico for more than 12 years. She also worked in banking and bookkeeping for many years. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies, and a board member of the Beacon Terrace Home Owners' Association. She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University and was a member of Beta Alpha Phi Philanthropy Sorority. She attended Resurrection Catholic Church.

Mrs. Nolet was preceded in death by her husband, Edward "EJ" Nolet. She is survived by her daughters, Bartye Cornell, Green Bay, Wis., Brenda Meyers, Albuquerque, N.M.; brother, Harold "Hal" Thornton, Estil Springs, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on July 16, 1958, he came to Lakeland from New York City in 1986. He was automation clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a Christian.

Mr. Fahey is survived by his daughters, Gloriann Fahey, Laurie Christine Fahey, both of Altamonte Springs; former wife, Gloria Perez Fahey, Altamonte Springs; companion, Maylo E. LAKELAND -- Mr. Charles "Chuck" Hathaway of Lakeland died of heart failure Thursday (Aug. 24, 2006) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 83.

Born Jan. 16, 1923, in Cadillac, Mich., Mr. Hathaway moved to Lakeland from Traverse City, Mich., in 1991. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked as an agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance. He attended Church of the Resurrection. He was a member of Life Underwriters and Telephone Pioneers of America. He volunteered for Southwest Elementary.

Mr. Hathaway was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Hathaway. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hathaway; sons, Larry Hathaway, Chuck Hathaway, and Paul Hathaway, all of Traverse City, Rick Hathaway, Portage, Mich.; daughter, Mary Beth Pomeroy, Traverse City; stepdaughter, Linda M. Kroeger-Leath, Apopka; stepson, Edward H. Parker, Kalamazoo; brother, John W. "Jack" Hathaway, Ludington, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; and several greatgrandchildren.

Ms. Paulson was preceded in death by her husband, Everett O. Paulson. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Born in Moundsville, W. Va., on Dec. 1, 1932, he came to Lakeland from Pittsburgh 25 years ago. He was an engineering consultant and a sea captain. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a Presbyterian.

Mr. Reynolds is survived by his wife, Dottie Reynolds; stepson, Joe Allen Bryan II, Plant City; stepdaughter, Tonya Bryan, Lakeland; daughters, Becky Reynolds, and Dinah Reynolds, both of Pittsburgh, Polly Reynolds, and Amy Reynolds, both of Houston; brother, Bill Reynolds, Pittsburgh; sister, Susan Reynolds, Pittsburgh; two grandchildren.
