Lakeland - Mrs. Viva Ava Cochran of Lakeland died of complications of dementia Tuesday (June 28, 2005) at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale. She was 89

Born in Live Oak on March 28, 1916, Mrs. Cochran came to Lakeland from there in 1930. She was a grader at Juice Bowl in Lakeland. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bartow.

Mrs. Cochran was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Cochran. She is survived by her son, Wayne Cochran, Lakeland; daughter, Ruby McDonald, Winter Haven; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will from 6-8 p.m. Wed. June 29, 2005 at Gentry-Morrison Southside Chapel. Services will follow on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Born Jan. 7, 1912, in West Palm Beach, Mrs. James came here from Clearwater 65 years ago. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. James was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. James. She is survived by her son, Jon James, Lakeland; daughters, Nancy Lee James, Lakeland, Ann Perella, Vienna, Va.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday (June 28, 2005) at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa.

Mrs. Harvey was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn W. Harvey. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Williams; brother, Robert Lucker, Lake Wales; sister, Jean Johnson, Sun City Center; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Born on Aug. 31, 1919, in Van Wert, Ohio he, came to Lakeland from Ft. Wayne, Ind. 21 years ago. He was self-employed. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Louth is survived by his daughter, Debra Power, Tallahassee; brother, Kenneth Louth, Van Wert, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

LAKELAND -- Ms. Wanda Lee Hilton of Lakeland died Monday (June 20, 2005) of cancer at home. She was 82.

Born on Jan. 16, 1923 in Logan, W.Va., she came to Lakeland from Pasadena, Texas in 1965. She was a homemaker and a member of Anglers Green Golf Club. She was a Christian.

Ms. Hilton was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald E. Hilton; and second husband, Raymond Lemieux. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Owens, Lakeland; sons, Brad Owens, Lakeland, and Paul Hilton, Orange City; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening (June 22, 2005) at Gentry Morrison Duke Steen Beacon Hill Chapel. Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. (June 23, 2005) at Oak Hill Burial Park.

PLANT CITY -- Mr. Donald C. Bardin of Plant City died of emphysema Saturday (June 18, 2005) on international waters aboard a cruise ship. He was 71.

Born in Troy, N.Y., on Feb. 13, 1934, he came to Plant City from the Lakeland area 25 years ago. He was a superintendent for McDonald Construction for 25 years. He served in the Army and Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a master degree of the Masonic Lodge in Albany, N.Y. He was a member of the Shriners and was an officer of the Bethlehem Elks Lodge. He was a Protestant.

Mr. Bardin is survived by his companion, Mary C. Graves; daughters, Pamela L. Dow, Agawam, Mass., Kimberly A. Bardin, Orlando; brothers, Richard, Robert, Bruce, Wayne, and Douglas Bardin, all of Albany, Kenneth Bardin, New Mexico.

Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday (June 24, 2005) at Gentry-Morrison Duke-Steen Beacon Hill Chapel, 1833 S. Florida Ave., Lakeland. Memorial services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

Ms. Lallak is survived by her half brother, Patrick Welch, Polk City, and half sister, Patricia Long, Indiana.

Mrs. Harvell was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Harvell. She is survived by her son, David Harvell, Collierville, Tenn.; daughter, Lynnette Harvell Raffio, Lakeland; three grandchildren.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Henry Fletcher Allen Sr. of Lakeland died of heart failure Friday (June 17, 2005) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 61.

Born Dec. 14, 1943, in Plant City, he was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a veteran of the Army and served in Vietnam. He was an ironworker and member of Local 397. He was a member of Without Walls International Church Central.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Lona Allen; sons, Christopher M. Queen, Tampa, Henry F. Allen Jr., Lakeland; daughter, Alisa Sumner, Lakeland; brother, Aaron R. Allen, Plant City; one granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (June 21, 2005) at Gentry-Morrison Northside Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday (June 22, 2005) at the funeral home.

LAKELAND -- The Rev. Abel H. Hulzebos of Lakeland died of liver failure Tuesday (June 14, 2005) at home. He was 72.

Born in Patterson, N.J., on Nov. 30, 1932, he came to Lakeland from Coeburn, Va., in 1992. He was an Assembly of God minister. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Trinity Christian Center.

The Rev. Hulzebos is survived by his wife of 50 years, Althea Hulzebos; sons, Paul K. Hulzebos, Lacey, Wash., Philip K. Hulzebos, Lakeland; sister, Trina Brock, Grand Rapids, Mich.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday (June 18, 2005) at Trinity Christian Center. Services will follow at 3 p.m. at the church.
